Laminate Medical is developing a solution that will improve care for dialysis patients. Currently, the preferred method of hemodialysis is through a surgically connected artery or vein, called an arteriovenous fistula. Unfortunately, 40% of arteriovenous fistula fail within one year, becoming blocked (patency). Laminate has developed a device to improve vascular access patency rates in hemodialysis patients.
More than 550,000 people suffer from kidney failure in the U.S.
200,000 fistula procedures are performed in the U.S. annually.
Cost of fistula failures to the U.S health system are over $1 billion per year
